JUDICIAL ADVOCATES
Judicial Advocates are students, like you, who assist fellow students who are going to a Student Conduct Hearing. They help the accused Student understand both the process of the hearing and the possible sanctions. If requested, the advocate may be present during the student conduct hearing. At the hearing the advocate can only advise the student on what he or she should say or do.
The following describes the role of a Judicial Advocate:
Serve as a Conduct Advisor for students accused of violating the Code of Student Conduct
Inform students on the student conduct process and potential outcomes
Attend hearings with students (upon student’s request) to assist them with process guidance and moral support
Refer students to resources when helpful
Understand that conduct hearing decisions are case by case, and NOT based on precedent. Giving an inappropriate expectation will not help a student.
Serve as unpaid volunteers
If you have any questions regarding Judicial Advocate services or how to become an advocate, please contact the Director of Student Advancement, Brandon Taylor at btaylo58@kent.edu
